Science NECAP

At the beginning of October, last year's science NECAP scores were released.  This is a standardized assessment that all students take in grades 4, 8, and 11 throughout the state of Vermont.  Unlike standardized tests of the past, in addition to fill in the bubble content knowledge questions, the science NECAP requires students to work in teams to complete an experiment. Then each individual student writes-up the experiment using the scientific method.  As a cohort, 66% of last year's 4th graders scored on grade level compared to  the state average of 53%.  In addition, these scores are 16 percentage points higher than the previous year.
