Arrival, Dismissal, and Transportation
Arrival
Students may arrive at school between 7:45 and 8:00. School starts at 8:00. Children enter the school through the front door. Students who arrive at the school prior to 7:45 AM are not supervised and must remain outside of the school building.
Pre-K families will drop off their student/s in front of the pre-K entrance. Please see the pre-K handbook for specific times and directions.
If there is a need to communicate with the office, families may walk their child/ren into the building. Please note that classroom teachers are not available in the morning unless an appointment was scheduled ahead of time.
After School Dismissal
All students who are not taking a bus or attending an after school program must be picked up at 2:35 in the cafeteria. Access the cafeteria through the door that is under the awning to the right (north) of the main entrance.. At 2:45 any remaining students will be sent to wait in the office.
If a non-guardian is picking-up a child, the school must receive prior approval directly from the guardian.
Pre-K parents will pick-up their student/s in front of the pre-K entrance.
- If there are buses in front of the building, DO NOT PASS them if their lights are flashing.
A student’s guardian must inform the office if their child's after school plans need to change. It is best to contact the school prior to 2:00 PM on the day of the change. Changes may be emailed to dbsoffice@hartfordschool.net, called into the main office, or made by sending a note into the classroom teacher. If a last minute change is required, call the office and make sure that you speak to someone directly. In the event that the call goes to voicemail, please call back.
Early Release
Periodically the school calendar includes early release days. On these days, pick-up occurs at 12:35 and the bus schedule runs two hours early.
